Group assignment 2.1: simulation of transport of pollutant in rivers#

This GA2.1 is devoted to computer simulations of propagation and diffusion of a cloud of pollutant in a river. For this, we will consider a one-dimensional model based on a time-dependent advection–diffusion equation.
It is assumed that you have already completed WS 2.1 and also read Chapter Numerical Methods for PDEs of the MUDE book in preparation.
All tasks for this GA will be performed in the following Jupyter notebook grp09.ipynb. These tasks are divided over three parts. For each part, please answer the questions in the report.md. Part 1 can be done independently, while Parts 2-3 are linked. Your report (in Markdown format) will be graded.
The questions in the notebook. unless stated otherwise, are meant to guide you. Some questions in the report refer directly to the tasks in the notebook. In these cases you may copy the answers from the notebook’s tasks directly.
