Introduction to Reliability

8.3. Introduction to Reliability#

As we previously introduced, Reliability is the probability of a device or system performing its intended function under given conditions for a specified period of time. In this section, we will introduced two perspectives for performing reliability assessments:

  1. Defining a limit state function and computing the probability of being in such failure region;

  2. Analyzing the failure distributions from a survivability perspective.
