IT training for teacher and TAs

Afterwards, you’ll practise with the systems yourself with the following steps: During the IT-training, you’ll get a short overview of the different systems and website. This demonstration is recorded and available here

After this demo, you’ll practise with the systems yourself with the following steps:

1. Ask for access to the book and assignment repositories at the IT coordinator with your GitHub username.

2. Read Textbook, Assignment files, (Deprecated) FTP-server for big and binary files and Git LFS repository for big and binary files.

3. If you’ve no experiences with books and git: go through ‘Your first TeachBook’ part of the TeachBooks manual which includes the ‘TeachBooks workflow’ exercises of the TeachBooks template. Exercise 6 can be skipped and for exercise 7 you can try one of the assignment repositories as ‘your friends repo’

4. Try and make edits to the teachers book with the following:

   • Add you profile picture to the Git LFS repository

   • Add your profile picture in the teacher’s page in the teacher’s book

   • Ask for a review.

5. Try and make edits on new branches in the MUDE-book / your own book from the previous step:

   • Only text

   • Interactive questions

   • If you’ve python skills: interactive python code

   • Figure (stored on the Git LFS repository).

   • Attribution note

   • Note in changelog

   • Ask for a review

6. Try and make an edits to the assignment using:

   • Only text in report

   • If you’ve python skills: assignment file with assignment and solution cells

   • Figure on Git LFS repository.

   • Ask for a review
