3.7. Supplementary Videos#
The story of Signal Processing is told once again on this page through a series of videos. Besides an introduction and conclusion, the videos listed below have a one-to-one correspondence with the chapters in this book.
Note that, since the videos were made, a few minor corrections have been made to the book in the meantime.
MUDE exam information
These videos cover the theory presented in the book, and may contain some supplemental material meant to provide additional perspective on the topic. Additional material presented in these videos is not part of the exam; in other words, the exam scope is limited to contents that appear in the previous pages in the book.
Introduction
Fourier Series
Complex Fourier Series
Fourier Transform
Sampling
Discrete Fourier Transform
Please note that one small change in notation has been made in the book, in the meantime. The bottom-line is that \(f_0\) denotes the (fundamental) frequency of a periodic signal, and that \(\Delta f\) denotes the frequency step-size with the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT). In this video you may still find old (confusing) notation, specifically on slide 7 (from 3:56 on; DFT - action item 2) with \(f_0 = \frac{1}{T} = \frac{1}{N \Delta t} = \frac{f_s}{N}\), the \(f_0\) should be replaced here by \(\Delta f\). Also next slide (from 4:57 on; DFT), here \(X_{sw}(k f_0)\) should read \(X_{sw}(k \Delta f)\). On slide 11 (from 6:29 on; DFT: action item 2) saying that \(\Delta f = f_0\), but \(f_0\) should be removed here. And finally slide 13 (from 8:20; DFT - summary) says \(\Delta f = f_0\), and again \(f_0\) should be removed here.
